Discover Your Child’s Hidden Abilities

From a very young age, children tend to start exhibiting some unique talents which might even be very surprising to parents; they might start displaying football skills, singing abilities, memorising skills or might love mimicking people (acting). Parents sometimes get carried away with work and do not even have the slightest opportunity to be with their kids even to help them discover and nurture the budding talent that they are displaying. Do not let the steam die off, encourage them a lot to build up on their passion; this way you would definitely have a very happy and confident child.
Some few tips that could help:

  • Devout more time for the kids and observe them closely, especially in their early years before the age of twelve as research has show that 90% of the human brain develops before then
  • Encourage them in their versatility; even when you think they are fooling around, let them be, they could be exhibiting some talents that you might not see yet
  • Don’t stop them from participating in school and neighbourhood sports activities; many of the world legendary sportsmen today were discovered either through school sports or neighbourhood sports
  • Listen to second opinions about your child’s talents, especially from neighbours and teachers as they may be able to spot those things that you might not
  • Understand and encourage your child’s curiosity, as that may be where his talent lies. For instance, a child that is always asking questions about a particular sports game might be interested in that sports
  • Buy those things that could enhance the child’s talent; where they are expensive, arrange for either a second hand or look out for those giving out old ones
  • Let the child know that you are interested in his talent by discussing the talents with him
  • Enrol the child in a class that will help nurture the talent
  • Above all, remember not to work the child too hard; let him enjoy his childhood as well
